Managing sports and e-sports competitions can be tricky, especially when the same team appears in different challenges with the same name—or slight variations in its name. To solve this, Challenge Place offers a powerful merge teams feature, ensuring data remains accurate and consolidated.
If a team appears in multiple challenges under the exact same name, our system automatically recognizes it as the same team and merges the stats within the League at the moment the challenges are added to the league. This way, all performance data—wins, losses, and overall records—stays centralized and precise.
However, if team names differ slightly—say, “Team X” in one challenge and “The Team X” in another—they will remain separate in the League. If you want to unify them, you can do so manually.
In the opposite scenario, if two competitors are mistakenly merged due to identical names, administrators can manually separate them.
Auto-merging rules also apply to players added to the league.
You can merge or unmerge teams/players directly from the menu next to their name. Simply go to the “Appears in” section within their profile screen. In the app, this option is in the bottom navigation bar, while in the browser, you’ll find it in the top bar of your League.
When a new team/player is added to a challenge after that challenge has already been added to the league, the linking of that challenge team/player in the league will not happen automatically. It will be necessary to manually link it to one of the existing teams/players in the league or create a new one to represent it. This action can be done in the league dashboard, under the “Unlinked Appearances” section.
Now, if a team/player is deleted from a challenge after that challenge has already been added to the league, that challenge team will automatically be unlinked from the league team/player it was previously linked to. If that league team/player, after the removal, no longer has any appearances in any challenges in the league, a warning will be displayed in the league dashboard so that it can be completely removed from the league. This action can also be done in the league dashboard, under the “Empty teams/players” section.
This feature ensures accurate stats management, preventing confusion and making it easier to track a team’s performance across different competitions.
