Liverpool have claimed their joint record 20th Premier League title this Sunday after their 3-1 win against Leicester as their title rivals Chelsea could only hold Arsenal to a 1-1 tie at Stamford Bridge. Manager Xabi Alonso stated:

"It's an amazing feeling to win in front of our passionate fans, even more so special today. I am so happy myself and for everyone at the football club and our fans, we had a fantastic season and I believe we deserved the title. I'm so thankful for the Liverpool board to give me the chance to work with these fantastic players who I'm sure we will accomplish many more things with together, and I'm very thankful to the Liverpool fans for their support whenever we lose or win. I promise to them that next season will be even better."

Club captain Virgil van Dijk also spoke to the media:

"Today was truly special, winning the title in front of our fans is an incredibly special feeling. It was a brilliant season for us, hopefully the next one can be even better. It might be a busy summer for the club."

Liverpool is now tied with Manchester United for first divison titles, with each having 20. The results of the weekend have also confirmed Leicester City's relegation to the Championship after 12 consecutive seasons in the Premier League, having won the 2016 title during their stay.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti also commented on Liverpool winning the league after their game:

"I congratulate Liverpool first, they deserved the title. Next year we will be back stronger but for now we are focused on the Champions League final and nothing else."
