Crossover FC Ready for Cup Battle as Coach Cliff Gives Squad Update
Harare — Excitement is building within the Crossover FC camp as the team prepares for the opening cup tournament set for Sunday, 8 March, at the First Capital Grounds. The club will kick off their campaign with a highly anticipated derby clash against Absaar at 9:00 AM.
During a press briefing following a meeting with the club’s technical team and executive leadership, head coach Coach Cliff shared key updates about the squad’s readiness and overall morale.
According to the coach, the atmosphere in the camp is extremely positive as the team enters the final phase of preparations.
“Morale in the camp is very high. The boys have been training well and showing great commitment. We have our final light training session scheduled for Saturday before the tournament,” said Coach Cliff.
While the team is approaching the competition with confidence, the coach remained realistic about the challenge ahead.
“We can’t boldly say we are taking the cup, but we are definitely going there to fight. We will be at our best. The squad is geared up and ready to compete.”
However, the team will have to deal with a few injury concerns. Midfielder Maleft has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a knee injury, while two other players are currently undergoing fitness assessments and will be evaluated again before Sunday’s kickoff. The rest of the squad is reported to be fully fit and available for selection.
Beyond the technical bench, the Crossover FC Executive Board also expressed optimism about the upcoming campaign. Club officials indicated that they are pleased with the new additions made to the squad this season and believe the team has strengthened significantly.
“We are delighted with the squad that has been assembled this season. The management will be there backing the boys 100 percent. We are promising mabvirawira and a strong fight from our team,” a board representative said.
The club also made a passionate appeal to their supporters, often referred to as the team’s “12th player,” urging them to turn up in large numbers to rally behind the squad.
“Our fans have always been our biggest strength. We encourage them to come in numbers and bring the energy they are known for. Their support makes a huge difference for the players on the field.”
With preparations nearly complete and anticipation rising, all eyes will now turn to Sunday morning when Crossover FC steps onto the pitch to face their derby rivals Absaar in what promises to be an electrifying opening encounter of the tournament.
If the confidence and unity within the camp are anything to go by, the stage is set for Crossover FC to begin their cup journey with determination, passion, and the fighting spirit their supporters have come to expect. ⚽🔥
