IEM returns to Rio in 2026 after skipping 2025, and will take place on April 13-19 with playoffs at the Farmasi Arena on the final three days of competition.

A field of 16 teams, including Vitality, FURIA, Falcons, MOUZ, Natus Vincere, and Spirit, will convene in the Brazilian city for a shot at their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool and a notch in the race for the ESL Grand Slam.

ESL has now announced the invited teams to the 16-team main event, as well as the invites for the global closed qualifier and the Americas closed qualifier. Two teams from the global qualifier and one from the Americas qualifier will make it to the main event.

The most notable teams to have declined an invitation are FaZe, seventh in the VRS, and The MongolZ, who are eighth. They declined invites to the main event.

Astralis (15th), Ninjas in Pyjamas (20th), and FlyQuest (32nd) all declined invites to the global closed qualifier, while paiN (18th), NRG (23rd) and M80 (29th), declined invites to the Americas closed qualifier.
