The weekend kicked off on Saturday as Nottingham Forest were hunting for their first win under Ange Postecoglou against Chelsea. Two goals early in the second half were the last straw for Forest owner Marinakis who was seen leaving his seat soon after. Under an hour from the final whistle and Postecoglou had been sacked. The 0-3 loss was his fifth and last game in charge. In the 3pm matches Brighton beat Newcastle 2-1 to climb into the top 10. Newcastle's tough start continues as they're currently 14th in the league. Burnley took a very important 2-0 home win against Leeds. Burnley have now won two games, both coming against fellow promoted teams Leeds and Sunderland. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth provided entertainment with a 3-3 draw. Jean-Philippe Mateta completed a hat-trick for Palace with a late penalty that equalized the game. Man City continued their winning streak as Erling Haaland scored another two goals in a 2-0 win over Everton. Wolves were left bottom of the table, still without a win as Sunderland beat them in another 2-0 match. Late on Saturday one goal was enough for Arsenal to take an away win against Fulham. After the weekend Arsenal are in the lead with a 3-point gap to second place Man City.
Aston Villa took their third win in a row by stealing a 1-2 win away at Tottenham. Spurs on the other hand have won only two of their last six games. The Northwest derby provided probably the biggest surprise of the weekend. Man United had been struggling but ended up with a massive 1-2 win at Anfield. Harry Maguire's late goal sealed the second win in a row for United for the first time this season. Liverpool have now lost three games on the bounce and have fallen to third place in the league for the first time under Arne Slot.
West Ham are yet to score a goal under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Their second game of Nuno's reign brought a 0-2 loss at home against Brentford. The Hammers are only 19th in the league and so far Nuno hasn't been able to steer the course in a better direction.
