Man United struggled once again as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Brentford. Two early goals from Igor Thiago made it difficult for United to fight back. Ruben Amorim is once again under threat as the United manager. Brighton took their first away points with a 1-3 scoreline against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were 1-0 in front at halftime but Brighton scored three goals within the last fifteen minutes and emerged victorious. Bournemouth rescued a late 2-2 draw away at Leeds. The Cherries have started the season strongly and currently lie in 6th place. Manchester City took a routine 5-1 win against Burnley at home. Burnley defender Maxime Esteve was the unluckiest player of the weekend as he scored two own goals against City. Ange Postecoglou was unable to take his first win as Nottingham Forest manager as they lost 0-1 to Sunderland at home. Sunderland have started very strongly for a promoted side whereas Nottingham have fallen to 17th in the league. Late on Saturday Tottenham drew 1-1 against Wolverhampton. Joao Palhinha scored a late equalizer for Spurs but the point was the very first for Wolves this season.

On Sunday Aston Villa took a relieving 3-1 win over Fulham. The win was the first for Villa this season and they are currently 16th in the table after an underwhelming start. Newcastle hosted Arsenal on Sunday evening. Nick Woltemade gave Newcastle the lead early on but on the 84th minute Arsenal equalized through a header from Mikel Merino. Arsanal kept pushing and Gabriel scored the winner from a corner kick on added time. With the 2-1 win Arsenal managed to close the gap on Liverpool at the top. This was the second time this season where Newcastle have lost a game at home in the final minutes.

Everton and West Ham rounded off the weekend on Monday evening. Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge for his first match as West Ham manager. A 1-1 draw gave West Ham a very important away point. Jarrod Bowen was once again the saviour for West Ham by scoring his third goal of the season. Everton are currently 9th in the league table and West Ham in 19th.
