Liverpool and Everton kicked off the weekend with a Merseyside Derby at Anfield. A strong first half secured Liverpool a 2-1 victory. Liverpool are now firmly at the top of the table and maintain a perfect 15-point record after five matches. Four matches kicked off at 3pm on Saturday. Tottenham rescued a late draw away at Brighton after being 2-0 down in the 31st minute. Spurs have had a decent start under Thomas Frank and are currently 3rd in the table whereas Brighton currently sit in 14th place. Nottingham Forest picked up their first point under Ange Postecoglou with a 1-1 draw at Burnley. West Ham and Wolves continue to struggle as West Ham lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace and Leeds took their first away points with a 3-1 win in Wolverhampton. Wolves are currently bottom of the table with zero points and West Ham in 19th place with three. Later on Saturday Man United took an important 2-1 home win over Chelsea and climbed up the table. In the last game of Saturday Fulham took their second consecutive win 3-1 against Brentford, who are yet to pick up any points away from home.
Sunday gave us three matches, all of them being draws. Bournemouth continued their impressive start with a goalless draw against Newcastle and lie currently 4th in the standings. Sunderland have so far been the best out of the promoted teams and managed to get another point against Aston Villa who've had an underwhelming start. The weekend finished off with a highly anticipated matchup between Arsenal and Man City. City took an early lead as Erling Haaland continued his amazing goalscoring form. Arsenal were eventually able to break down City's defense and Gabriel Martinelli scored the equalizer on added time. A 1-1 draw meant that Liverpool were able to extend their gap on both teams. Arsenal are currently five and Man City eight points behind the reigning champions.
