West Ham and Chelsea kicked off the weekend on Friday night. West Ham started positively but Chelsea answered quickly and went on to beat the Hammers 5-1 away. This was a crucial first win for Chelsea while West Ham have had a difficult start to the season.
On Saturday Man City and Spurs faced in the midday fixture. Tottenham capitalized the mistakes of City's defence and took a 2-0 away win. Spurs have started their era under Thomas Frank with two wins from two matches. In the afternoon games Bournemouth took their first win 1-0 over Wolves, Brentford got their frist points under Keith Andrews with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa and Burnley took very important three points by winning 2-0 against Sunderland. All three promoted teams have now scored three points. In the evening match Arsenal beat Leeds 5-0 at home. New signing Viktor Gyökeres scored his first two goals in an Arsenal shirt.
On Sunday afternoon Everton marked the opening of their new home stadium with a 2-0 victory against Brighton. Man City loanee Jack Grealish assisted both goals. In the other afternoon match Crystal Palace drew 1-1 against Nottingham Forest. Man United got their first point in the evening game after drawing 1-1 against Fulham. Maybe not the start that Ruben Amorim was hoping for.
On Monday evening Newcastle and Liverpool marked the end of the weekend. The transfer story of Alexander Isak has increased tensions between the clubs and it was clearly shown. Anthony Gordon was sent off but Newcastle managed to climb from 0-2 down to a 2-2 tie. In extra time however 16 year-old debutant Rio Ngumoha scored the winner for Liverpool. Liverpool haven't been convincing in their first two games but have still secured all six points available.
