Season Preview: Youthful Chelsea pushing towards the top

Chelsea's first season under Enzo Maresca's guidance was a moderate success. The team returned to the top 4 after a two-year gap and therefore qualified to the Champions League. Maresca was able to get a lot out of Chelsea's young squad. The team also lifted the Club World Cup title this summer.
Chelsea have once again had a busy summer transfer window. This time though focus has been mainly on youngsters rather than immediate first-team players. There are some exceptions however. Forward Liam Delap was bought from Ipswich after his breakthrough campaign and will be fighting for a starting place over Nicolas Jackson. Same applies to Joao Pedro who joins from Brighton. English winger Jamie Gittens was bought from Borussia Dortmund and defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax. These players are surely fighting for starting places. Out of the many youngsters signed this window, Brazilian winger Estêvão is the most promising one.
There have also been numerous exits from Chelsea. Goalkeepers Dorde Petrovic, Kepa and Marcus Bettinelli all left, defender Bashir Humphreys joined Burnley as did Lesley Ugochukwu and Armando Broja, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left to Everton and attacking players Noni Madueke and Joao Felix also moved elsewhere.
The core of the team has stayed fairly similar at Chelsea. Especially in attack there any many good options and also good depth which will be important with a busy calendar. The biggest questions are in the defense. Centre-backs Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana will miss the start of the season. Also in goal there are doubts whether Robert Sanchez is a good enough starting keeper. Chelsea are still all in all looking positive and even a proper title challenge can't be ruled out.
My prediction: 4th
