Season Preview: Nottingham Forest on the rise under Nuno
last year - 8/11/2025 11:26 AM GMT-3
After struggling against relegation for two years in a row, last season was a massive step up for Nottingham Forest. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo was able to transform the team into a winning one. 7th place was the clubs's best finishing position in the English top flight since the 1988-89 season.
Nottingham haven't splashed the cash this transfer window but some key signings have been made. Two Brazilians Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha joined from Botafogo. Swiss forward Dan Ndoye has been the biggest signing so far after arriving from Bologna. Angus Gunn also joined as a backup keeper.
Nottingham' s biggest loss this summer is clearly Swedish winger Anthony Elanga who moved to Newcastle. Elanga was a key player in Nottingham's success last year. Midfielder Danilo and winger Ramon Sosa both moved to Brazil. Other departures include centre-back Andrew Omobamidele, goalkeeper Matt Turner and midfielder Lewis O'Brien. All of them played elsewhere away on loan last season.
Nottingham will want to reinforce their place in the upper half of the league. Another 7th place or above could be difficult to achieve especially with Europa League football on the side. The departure of Elanga is a big loss for Nottingham but it also allows someone else to step up. Without any other departures a mid-table finish is certainly the expectation for Forest.
My prediction: 10th
