Season Preview: Wolves slipping closer to relegation
last year - 8/7/2025 3:27 AM GMT-3
Wolves have been a consistent Premier League club since getting promoted in 2018. Since finishing 7th in their first two seasons back in the league, Wolves have fallen down the table closer towards relegation. Last season Vitor Pereira replaced Gary O'Neil as manager in December and managed to guide Wolves into safety.
The summer window hasn't been very busy for Wolves. The most intriguing signings are Fer López from Spain and Jhon Arias who joins from Brazil. Both are however fairly unproven in a top level. Jørgen Strand Larsen was signed permanently after having a good season on loan at the Molineux. Another Norwegian, left-back David Møller Wolfe joins from AZ Alkmaar.
In terms of outgoings Wolves have lost key players. Forward Matheus Cunha moved to Manchester United and left-back Rayan Aït Nouri signed with Manchester City. Portuguese winger Goncalo Guedes also left the club permanently after spending recent years elsewhere on loan deals.
Wolverhampton's success will ultimately come down to how well Vitor Pereira manages his first full season in charge. Especially in attack Wolves lost key firepower and creativity by losing Cunha. This could be the season when Wolves really are fighting for survival.
My prediction: 17th
