Tottenham recorded their worst league campaign in the Premier League era, despite winning their first major trophy in 17 years. Manager Ange Postecoglou guided Spurs to a Europa League victory but 17th place in the league led to his sacking. New manager Thomas Frank has impressed at Brentford but even many acclaimed managers have found Tottenham difficult to manage in the past.

Tottenham's focus in the transfer market has been in making permanent moves for recent loanees. Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso joined with permanent deals. In addition, Mohammed Kudus arrived from West Ham and João Palhinha returned to England from Bayern Munich. Some new deals are still possible before the start of the season.

The big story of the window has been the fate of captain Heung-min Son. Last week Son announced that he would be leaving the club this transfer window. Son made 333 appearances and scored 127 goals for the club since joining in 2015. Apart from the South Korean, the departure list from Spurs is short so far.

Thomas Frank will be under pressure to perform in the league. With Champions League football alongside, a top 6 finish might be tough to achieve but it will be important for Frank to steer the ship in the right direction.
