Mario Fireballs Season 1 Postseason Report: Rebuild Time @ Mario HQ
7 months ago - 2/4/2025 8:33 AM GMT-3
Following their last place exit from Season 1 Regular Season, Mario HQ has let go of five of it's Season 1 Players.

Blue Pianta, Red Noki, Red Toad, Toadsworth and Toadette were all given the boot the day after the Fireballs exited the Season 1 Premiership.

"It was-a tough decision letting go of these players. Hopefully they can find success elsewhere, or potentially be picked up again by the Fireballs in the draft" Mario stated in his media conference at Mario HQ.

Red Toad spoke to the media on his way out from Mario HQ: "After that last game, I kind of knew that tomorrow I wasn't going to be offered to stay at the Fireballs. We all didn't perform our best this year, so this was sort of inevitable for us all"

Mario then met with Trump, Buddy and Brock. He offered the three another season to play for the Fireballs. Trump and Buddy declined the offer and are now Free Agents.

Trump and Buddy both separately confronted the media about their moves to free agency:

"This season was an utter train-wreck for the organisation, no one was scoring runs or doing anything at all... That isn't to say that I didn't see what Mario was doing" Trump stated, "The Fireballs are going to look completely different next year, I think they'll do better. But after this season, I think that free agency is the best for me"

"There were just some games this season that really made me question my position here at this club" Buddy admitted to the media. "I'm no glory hunter, however the club culture died after we lost 12-0 to the Knights. It's like everyone had given up"

The Fireballs did however manage to retain one player for Season 2. Brock committed to another season, hoping to clean the slate for next season. Brock and Mario spoke to the media at a press conference after the signing:

"I'm very lucky to have been offered another season at this club. I know this isn't the season that Mario wanted out of his team, but I am confident in Mario's plan to rebuild this organisation almost from scratch" Brock stated in his speech.

"We did very poorly this season and the list changes certainly reflect on how this wasn't what we anticipated for this season, however it wasn't within my interests to completely knock-down rebuild the organisation". Mario further elaborated on his offseason movements: "There were offers made to two players who didn't share the same vision that I have for this club. I wish them the very best in finding new homes in Season 2".
