STORMBIRD STADIUM — In what many analysts predicted would be the closest matchup of the entire Division A Class 4 (A4) playoff bracket, the Vibe Stormbirds (15–2) delivered a dominant and emphatic 31–8 victory over the Norton North Huskies (11–4) Friday night. The win sends the Stormbirds to the regional semifinal while abruptly closing the book on a Huskies season that once appeared destined for a deep postseason run.

The Huskies entered the game boasting a 4.5-star rated offense, widely regarded as one of the most explosive in the division. But after giving up a lone touchdown and a two-point conversion in the first quarter, the Stormbirds defense tightened like a vise. Norton North never found the end zone again.

From the second quarter on, the game shifted sharply. The Stormbirds offense surged behind a balanced run-pass attack, overwhelming a Huskies defense that had struggled with consistency late in the season. By halftime, Vibe had seized all momentum. By the fourth quarter, they were simply closing the door.

“We knew what people were saying about this matchup,” Stormbirds head coach William Art said postgame. “Closest game of the year? That just fueled our guys. They played with discipline, energy, and a chip on their shoulder.”

The Stormbirds’ playoff experience—borderline dynastic at this point—was on full display. The program has now won three consecutive state championships (2022, 2023, 2024) and continues to build a résumé rarely seen at the A4 level. In the last four seasons combined, the team has dropped only five regular-season games:

2022: undefeated

2023: 2 losses

2024: 1 loss

2025: 2 losses

It’s a standard of excellence that has become the identity of the Stormbirds, and Friday’s win reinforced it.

On the other sideline, the Huskies walked off the field stunned. What was billed as a potential classic turned into a frustrating mismatch. The loss sends Norton North home earlier than expected, their high-powered offense never truly able to find rhythm against a Stormbirds front that applied relentless pressure.

The Stormbirds now shift their attention to what may be their most challenging game of the season. Next Saturday, they will travel to Pioneer Ranch Stadium for a 7:30 PM clash with the undefeated Deerfield Bucks—a team that has bulldozed opponents all year long.

The stakes could not be higher:
Winner advances to the State Championship and is crowned the Class 2 Regional Champion.

For the Stormbirds, it’s another chapter in a dynasty still being written. For the Bucks, it’s a chance to knock off the most decorated team in recent A4 history.

One thing is certain—next Saturday, everything is on the line.
