Bixby, OK — In a surprising turn of events that has captured the attention of the Oklahoma high school football community, Bixby Spartans’ standout offensive tackle, Connor Mijan, announced he will be transferring out of the high school football scene to join the National Competitive Program Football League’s (NCPFL) Blue Kelley Trojans. The news came just days before the Spartans' final regular-season game, leaving fans and teammates in shock.

Mijan, a 6'6", 310-pound offensive powerhouse, had been a key component of Bixby’s offensive line, known for his strong blocking skills and leadership on the field. As a senior, he helped the Spartans secure several victories this season and had been a highly coveted prospect for top college programs. But instead of taking his talents to a Division I school, Mijan has made the bold decision to pursue a different path—one that will see him playing against grown men in the professional development football league.

In an exclusive statement, Mijan explained his decision. “This was not an easy choice, but I felt it was the right time to take my game to the next level. The Blue Kelley Trojans offered me an incredible opportunity, and I believe that competing at the professional development level now will allow me to develop my skills faster than staying in high school for another season. I’m excited for this new challenge and grateful for the support of my family, teammates, and coaches."

While Mijan’s departure marks a significant loss for the Bixby Spartans, his decision reflects the changing landscape of high school sports. With the rise of professional developmental leagues like the NCPFL, more young athletes are opting to bypass the traditional college route to gain real-world experience in a competitive environment.

The Blue Kelley Trojans, part of the up-and-coming NCPFL, have been quick to announce Mijan’s signing, calling him a "game-changer" for the team. "Connor is a rare talent. His combination of size, strength, and technique makes him an ideal fit for the offensive line at the professional level," said the Trojans’ head coach, Mark Williams. "We’re excited to have him on board and are confident that his skills will make an immediate impact for us this season."

Bixby Spartans’ head coach, David Montgomery, expressed both pride and disappointment in Mijan’s decision. "We’re incredibly proud of Connor and everything he’s accomplished here. While we’re sad to see him go, we understand his desire to chase his dreams and pursue the professional development game. We wish him the best and will continue to support him in any way we can."

Mijan’s transfer marks a new chapter in his football journey, but it also brings up questions about the future of high school football recruiting, especially as more players look to make the jump to professional development leagues. Whether this decision will inspire others to follow in Mijan's footsteps remains to be seen, but for now, all eyes will be on the young offensive tackle as he takes on his next challenge in the NCPFL.

Mijan will leave BHS as a senior and will begin his Blue Kelley career as a freshman and will see another 4 years of playing time.

The Bixby Spartans, who now face a gap on their offensive line, will continue to battle their way through the rest of the season, but Mijan’s impact on the field will be sorely missed.

Bixby’s loss is Blue Kelley’s gain.
