Vibe Stormbirds Head Coach Michael Hill Retires After 13 Years, William Art Named Successor

OWASSO, OK — After 13 remarkable years at the helm of the Vibe Stormbirds football program, Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Michael Hill has officially announced his retirement, marking the end of a transformative era for the team.

Under Hill's leadership, the Stormbirds became a perennial powerhouse, earning multiple district titles and playoff runs while establishing a reputation for disciplined special teams play. His dual role as both head coach and special teams coordinator made him a unique figure in NCPFL football, known for his attention to detail and unwavering commitment to player development.

Hill led the Stormbirds to back-to-back state championships in the past two seasons, finishing the 2023 campaign with a perfect 16-0 record and capping off 2024 with a dominant 15-1 season. These victories solidified his legacy as one of the most successful coaches in program history.

"This has been the journey of a lifetime," said Hill during his emotional farewell press conference on Tuesday. "I’m so proud of what we’ve built here — not just the wins, but the culture. It’s time to pass the torch, and I know it’s in good hands."

Taking over as head coach and special teams coordinator is veteran football mind William Art, whose 28 years of experience in the same dual role includes an impressive seven-year stint at Oklahoma State University. Known for his strategic brilliance and player-first approach, Art brings a wealth of knowledge to the Stormbirds program.

"Coach Hill laid the foundation," said Art in a statement. "It’s an honor to continue his legacy while adding my own imprint. I’m here to compete, to teach, and to build young men both on and off the field."

Players and staff alike are optimistic about the transition, noting Art’s reputation for excellence and his proven track record at both the high school and collegiate levels. With the new season on the horizon, excitement is building for what the future holds.

"The Stormbirds are in great hands," added Vibe High School athletic director Karen Morris. "Coach Art brings energy, experience, and a passion that fits perfectly with our mission. We’re ready for this next chapter."

Coach Art will officially take over duties starting with summer workouts next week, ushering in a new era of Vibe Stormbirds football.
