HFL Super Bowl VII Preview

I’m back! Today we’re taking a look at the S7 edition of the HFL Super Bowl! In a near repeat from last season, the Bears, trying to repeat as champs, head into Las Vegas ready to take on the Colts, a team who was expected to go really far at the start of the season, ended up nearly missing the playoffs, and riding an unexpected wave of momentum to upset both the 1 and 2 seeds to get here. Let’s take a deeper dive now.

The Bears are an interesting case of something that’s been repeating in HFL history over and over again. This thing is that in each of the 7 HFL Super Bowl matchups, there’s been a team in it that was in the game last season or will be in the game next season. As I said earlier, this has happened ALL 7 of the HFL seasons. In S1-S2 it was the Bengals, S3 was the Eagles(Had been in SB I and SB II), S4-S5 was the Saints, and S6-Present have been the Bears. It shows that although coming off of an undefeated season and a well earned Super Bowl win, the Bears had a large amount of pressure on them for this season. This was seen when they lost twice in either 3 or 4, with both losses being to the Miami Dolphins(Although one loss was a preseason game). The Dolphins were the only team to have really been viewed as capable to beat the Bears, however they were upset by the Colts in the AFC Championship Game. So although the Colts upset Miami, this season when they played the Bears, they were kicking off their season, hoping to grab a win and then Chicago rolled right through them. Not quite a blowout but the Colts ended up having a shaky start after that. This season so far(Including playoffs), the Bears have posted a record of 11-1-0, with their only loss being to Miami(preseason isn’t included in the record). Something that was seen to rock the Bears further however, was the departures of Hak and Tokyo to the Dolphins right before the signing/trading deadline. This really took the Bears roster down a step compared to Miami’s Super Bowl caliber roster. What also probably hasn’t helped the Bears confidence wise is how they claimed that they would steamroll the Cowboys in the NFC Championship, however the game would come down to the final play, with the Bears only winning by one point.

The Colts, on the other hand, are a team I don’t have that much to say about. What I can say is that many teams made the mistake of counting this team out. Although a record of 5-4-1 isn’t very good for a team projected to go 7-3 or 8-2, it was enough to clinch the playoffs and the 3 seed(although both were clinched in the final game of the regular season), a late season bounce back was what the cards really showed for Indy, who started off on the back foot with an 0-2 record after 2 weeks. But now after these teams have counted Indy and their star qb Drewz out, they have come to play in both of their playoff games and look poised to put up a fight in the Super Bowl. Really making a name for themselves as the underdogs is going to boost their confidence, although it isn’t the powerhouse name they wanted to make.

So that is my main analysis of this season’s Super Bowl teams, who is the better team? Who knows. Find out Sunday night LIVE in HFL Super Bowl VII. Thanks for reading, articles out daily for now again!
