Welcome to Sportmaster’s Week 5 preview. We will look at all of the matchups with official predictions and analysis. Let’s get right into it.
Chiefs @ Dolphins - Saturday, 5 pm EST
This game is make or break for both teams. They need a new push of momentum, and I feel like if Miami win, they are automatic contenders for the playoffs. If Miami lose, this becomes ok, we have to find out what to do because we’re 2 games out of the playoffs with 6 games to go. So I have this as both teams going all in for a win.
Final Prediction: Dolphins defeat Chiefs 48-30
Cardinals @ Jaguars - Saturday, 8 pm EST
This is pretty much the season for Arizona. A loss and they could drop 3 games behind the 4 seed with 6 to play. If they lose here, you might be able to count this team out, because I don’t know if they can take 0-5. I also don’t think they’re going to show up. But let’s say hypothetically they do show up, I do think the jags hold the higher ground in this game.
Final Prediction: Jaguars defeat Cardinals by forfeit but if not, Jags win 54-20
Steelers @ Buccaneers - Sunday, 3:00 pm EST
Both teams can make their season from this game. If the Steelers win this game, they can all but jump ahead to get the 1 seed with Jets and Jags losses. If the Bucs win, they can possibly climb up a seed or separate themselves from the Cardinals by 3 games if the Cards drop to 0-5. Overall I think both teams have something with playoff implications at stake in this game so it will be a hard hitting game.
Final Prediction: Buccaneers defeat Steelers 48-40
Vikings @ Bears - Sunday, 6:30 pm EST
The Vikings can prove they rely on more than slants this week if they make their game plan less predictable and take a less is more approach against the Bears. If they do this I could see a team with this talent beating the Bears and making them a defeated team. On the other hand the Bears just have to go out and play like they have. This team is a serious threat, and might be the odds on Super Bowl favorites.
Final Prediction: Bears defeat Vikings 51-49
Giants @ Jets - Sunday, 8:15 pm EST
Both teams have spent this week gearing up for an all out war on Sunday Night Football, and boy does this look to be promising. The Giants completely overhauled their roster in just a few days, but they have a lot to prove now. A loss here could impact how other teams take them, as a contender, or just an all hype, no bite team. On the other hand, the Jets don’t have much to prove. They beat teams they’re better than and hang in with the other ones. For now, if they can beat the Giants, their momentum continues into Week 6, which could be another big week for them.
Final Prediction: Giants defeat Jets 41-40 with a game winning field goal
