HFL Playoff Format Revealed
last year - 12/17/2024 6:02 PM GMT-3
Well last night we got our original S6 playoff picture with teams from the AFC and NFC, I then received clarification on the format for it, so I'm here to share it with you. Today, we take a deep dive into what I think could happen with who makes it, who misses, and then maybe we can touch some playoff predictions tomorrow. For now though, let's get right into it.

So I wanna first get into what this format is, so in this format, we have 5 AFC and 5 NFC teams after the New Orleans Saints re-branded to the Miami Dolphins. This needed to happen because with an even number of teams per conference, it allows for this to happen. The format contains 4 teams per conference making the playoffs in this order: 4 seed @ 1 seed, 3 seed @ 2 seed. In the conference championship it will be the winners of those 2 games for each conference, and in the HFL's Super Bowl VI, the winners of the AFC and NFC will meet up and duel for the Vince Lombardi Trophy that is oh so coveted in the sports world.

In the first playoff picture released(I don't know how accurate this is because based off of standings it isn't accurate), on the NFC side of things we have the 4 seed Giants(3-1) @ the 1 seed Bears(4-0), and we have the 3 seed Buccaneers(2-2) @ the 2 seed Vikings(3-1). This playoff picture should hopefully be updated to have the 4 seed Bucs(2-2) @ 1 seed Bears(4-0) and 3 seed Vikings(3-1) @ 2 seed Giants(3-1), this would only happen if website standings were what were the official league standings, so I don't know if that will happen. On the AFC side we have the 4 seed Chiefs(1-3) @ 1 seed Steelers(3-1), and the 3 seed Jets(2-2) @ 2 seed Jaguars(2-2), again, this one according to the site, with tiebreakers the Jets would be the 2 seed and Jags 3 seed(Don't ask how because Jags beat Jets in Week 2), but again, this depends on the site standings being made official standings. Now, let's take a look at possible projections for the end of the season's playoff picture(This is done by AI, not my personal takes yet).

For the end of season playoff projections, I put the current state of these teams into the AI, and it came out with this playoff picture(I only said for playoff teams, not records, not standings, just the seeds). The AI predicted that the 4 seed in the AFC would be the Kansas City Chiefs, taking on the 1 seed Pittsburgh Steelers. It then predicted the 3 seed Jaguars to be against the 2 seed Jets. In the NFC the AI had the Giants as the 4 seed, taking on the 1 seed Bears, the AI then had the 3 seed Vikings taking on the 2 seed Bucs. When I asked the AI to predict the playoffs it just made, the results came out and I was honestly surprised. It said that in the first round(AFC), the Steelers will defeat the chiefs and the Jets will defeat the Jaguars. In the NFC, it predicts the Giants to beat the 1 seed Bears, and predicts the 2 seed Buccaneers to beat the 3 seed Vikings. In the conference championships, the AI predicts the Steelers to defeat the Jets, and the 4 seed Giants over the 2 seed Bucs. In the Super Bowl, the AI predicts the 1 seed Steelers from the AFC to defeat the 4 seed Giants from the NFC to win the Super Bowl in Season 6 of the HFL(Again, not my personal predictions).

I hope this was able to help those who didn't understand this format understand it, and I hope you thought the AI thing was a little bit of fun, having it predict the outcome of the HFL season(It was ChatGPT btw), and I hope you enjoyed the article overall. Stay posted for my Week 5 Power rankings(Out tonight 12/17 around 7-9 pm EST here on the HFL website), along with my Week 5 hot takes, which will be released either tomorrow or Thursday, after the Week 5 schedule is made public(Will most likely be released after the HFL Week 5 Preview). So please be on the lookout for some more articles tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday, probably even Friday too! So thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoyed it and will be back for my new Week 5 related articles(Out starting tonight).
