Tournament format
• Unless otherwise stated, the games will be played according to FIFA football rules and 7's football rules.
• All 16 teams participating in the tournament will be divided into 4 groups - Group A, Group B, Group C,
and Group D.
• In the group stage, every team will play once with the other 3 teams in their respective groups.
• Points will be awarded to teams based on the result of each game in the group stage:
Win= 3 points, Draw= 1 point, Loss= 0 points.
• Winners and runner-ups of each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
• If two teams have the same number of points at the end of the group stage games; the following rules will be
applied for tie breaker:
o The team with better goal difference (goals scored - goals conceded) will be declared winner.
o If two teams have the same goal difference, then winner of their head to head match-up will be considered.
o If the above conditions end up the same, then the team who scored more goals in the group stage will be
considered.
o If the above rules fail to break the tie, then the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout of 3 kicks each
which will be followed by sudden death format if needed.
• Every game in the group stage and quarter-finals will last for 12 minutes without breaks. Semi-finals and the
final will be 20 minutes in duration without breaks.
• Adherence to the fixture schedule is absolutely necessary. Teams have to be ready at the ground 5 minutes
before the scheduled start.
• If any team fails to show up at the scheduled start of their game, their opponent will be awarded the win with
a 3-0 margin. If both the teams fail to show-up, the result will be a 0-0 draw.
• Rolling substitutions can be utilized in all matches.
• All the players participating in the tournament must be of South Asian origin, with the exception of players
from two invited teams representing Mauritius. These teams are required to consist solely of players of
Mauritian origin.
