At 21:40, the Alekiri Football Association confirmed that it is investigating DFC Takai for breaching its financial rules. After a very unsuccessful season in the APL and relegation from the competition, the DFC sponsored club began strengthening their squad, with the money spent on transfers vastly exceeding their allowed spending in relation to their income for the season. This was not disclosed to the AFA until DFC submitted their financial report, where they allegedly attempted to hide the transfer spending behind other expenditures.
"Due to the severity of the breach, DFC Takai could face a point deduction of up to 10 points in the upcoming season in the National League." said the AFA spokesman.
DFC Takai refused to comment on the situation.
