The J FA have been rumoured to make some changes to the league. Here are our thoughts and how likely each thing is to happen:
18 team tournament - There have been a lot of rumours circulating that Fortis will return to the 18 team tournament again after they reduced down to 16 in order to implement the Mahama Cup without increasing the amount of games to play. I see this as being quite an unlikely rumour as it would go against a lot of rules the J FA have set up, but only time will tell on this one
Squad limits - Currently, there is no official squad limits implemented in the Fortis League, however, it is rumoured that a rule limiting squads to 25 - 30 players is on the horizon. To note, it will be unlikely that Academy players will count towards this total and there are also rumours that homegrown players under the age of 21 will also not count but we shall see. I see this as likely as the rumours come from reliable sources and many other leagues have squad limits. However, there is a chance this will be implemented as of January which will be interesting...
Transfer Window Extention - Currently the Fortis League is a later starting league and ends its transfer window before the season begins. However a rumour is circulating that the window will be extended and the league brought forwards so that the first 3 or 4 game weeks lie in game time. Currently the January window overlaps games so it doesn't seem too silly for the FA to change it to that the same happens in the summer.
