After a thrilling climax to the final day of the Countdown season, Matthew Stone has booked his place in League One next season after a routine 15-0 win against last-placed Naomi.
The drama was to be found in the match involving Alfie McCullougn and Thomas Deakin, where the routine victory expected for the former did not occur. Instead, in a game that swayed forwards and backwards, Thomas Deakin made it 40-45 with just 3 minutes left on the clock and Alfie had no reply. Those goals meant Alfie had failed to secure the solitary point he needed to cement first place.
Matthew will be thrilled his hard work has paid off and he will be able to compete in the league he feels he deserves to be in (and should have been in had he not cheated last season).
This means that Alfie will compete against Daniel Cafferekey in a two legged Play Off tie to vie for the final promotion spot available.
