In a shocking and sickening development, Mr Matthew Stone has today (Monday 6th March 2023)been issued with a yellow card and an official warning from the League's authorities following an accusation of using an online service to solve his Countdowns.
An official statement from the League at 15:00 6/03/2023 read: "🟨 Yellow card issued to Matthew Stone for cheating 🟨 Points for today voided pending further investigation."
It is believed that the accusation was made by Mr Lucas Mardle, whom himself was the subject of such accusations earlier on in the competition submitted by Mr Stone let us not forget. However in a key and crucial difference to that debacle, it is believed that there exists a strong piece of video evidence in which it is clearly seen that Mr Stone was using the online service aforementioned.
Mr Stone has denied any such wrong doing, stating publicly at 15:04 "I was framed" and at 15:06 "I do not need a defence because I have committed no crime".
Naturally the League authorities will strive to investigate quickly and thoroughly - however if Mr Stone is found to be guilty, he could see his punishment become harsher - perhaps even becoming upgraded to a red card if his crimes are deemed serious enough.
Of course we must stress this is an ongoing investigation and that Mr Stone may be innocent of the alleged crimes.
Despite this however, you have to wonder whether or not this debacle will throw Mr Stone out of title contention - whether literally or mentally.
This is an ongoing investigation and further developments are expected in the next 24 hours.
