LAS VEGAS, NV – The skies were clear when the green flag dropped. But in the blink of an eye, clouds rolled in, thunder cracked, and just like that—Tarrez Martínez stood as the last man standing when the desert showdown turned into a watery battlefield.

Before the rain came, Martínez, the 2021 HotWheels Cup Series Champion, was untouchable. Starting deep in the pack, he muscled his way through the field like a man possessed. With surgical aggression and championship-caliber patience, the #11 car carved through competitors with ease. His drive wasn’t just dominant—it was inevitable. When the red flag flew due to thunder and rain, he had racked up 59 points, the most of any driver this season.

“I could feel the rain coming—but nothing was going to stop us today,” said Martínez, smiling through soaked racing gear. “We were on rails.”

Behind him, Mikal Jackson gave chase, finishing a strong P2. The 2020 Champion continues his 2025 campaign with ruthless consistency—never out of sight, never off the pace. Fans are calling it “The Comeback Tour.”

But perhaps the loudest cheers were for rookie Travis Hollow, who yet again turned heads with a gritty P8 finish. With every race, the former underdog is turning into a serious dark horse.

“This kid is special,” said former champ Calvin Weathers from pit lane. “Travis has ‘it.’ You can’t teach that.”

Meanwhile, heartbreak unfolded for Zayden Palou, who started the season on fire but sputtered to 19th. His fans, stunned, watched as their favorite fought handling issues all day and struggled in traffic.

Elsewhere, Jim Johnson proved age is just a number, finishing P4 and showing the swagger of a reigning champ. Ace Earnhardt Jr. quietly logged a P6, but the buzz in the garage says he’s just warming up.

And then—BOOM. Thunder. A flash of lightning. NASCAR rules state the clock starts ticking. Moments later, the red flag waved, and the race was halted at Lap 124.

“We could’ve had a classic finish,” said Chase Taylor, who finished fifth. “But that’s racing. Sometimes Mother Nature throws the checkered flag.”

The standings saw a major shake-up. Big names faltered. Rookies surged. And the fans? They were left soaked but satisfied—because what they witnessed was nothing short of epic.
