Following their 3-2 win over FC Desna Chernihiv on the weekend, Tavryia Simferopol confirmed their promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League with four games left of the Ukrainian First League season. The 2025/26 season will be Tavryia's first season back in the top flight since 2013/14. The club withdrew from Ukrainian competitions after the 2013/14 season, after the occupation of Crimea.

The club then entered Crimean competitions from 2014/15 to 2015/16, winning majority of the tournaments and asserting their dominance in Crimean competitions. However, the club were allowed to return to Ukrainian competitions from 2016/17, where they entered the Ukrainian Second League.

Since then, they've been a major part of the graudal return of Crimean clubs to Ukraine. FC Sevastopol among other crimean clubs followed Tavryia's lead and returned to Ukrainian competitions.

Tavryia have returned to their home stadium for the 2024/25, among many other clubs in Crimea and the Donbass region. And this season they've been dominant, managing to have a 15 point gap over 3rd with 4 games left, confirming their return to the top flight.

The first ever champions of the Ukrainian top flight in 1992 have had a roller-coaster of emotions throughout the past 10 years, but it really is an emotional story of a club that's gone through a lot in the past 10 years, and we can't wait to welcome them back!

That means that two of the three promoted spots have been confirmed. The final promotion spot will be decided by a play-off tournament, which as of right now feature former UPL clubs like Metalist Kharkiv, Desna Chernihiv and Veres Rivne. There are also some potential debutants including UCSA Kyiv, Livyi Bereh Kyiv and Epicenter. Metalurh Zaporizhzia, an ex-UPL club could also be in the mix.
